Oh .. When did I stop being a vegetarian ?

This post is dedicated to all those moments where you suddenly and truly realize how disconnected you are from something you used to be passionate about, those moments where you notice how long a way you've come to become the person you are today.

For those who don't know me, I'm the kind of person who's up for trying anything at least once, with one condition, as a friend of mine put is so nicely:

As long as the fun I have today does not jeopardize the fun I could have in the future.

I often find myself in situations I never imagined thanks to this attitude, and I love it when I partake in an activity that friends are passionate about, it's really one of the best ways to be thrown into something.

Recently, I met someone who's nuts about hiking and rock climbing. You can pretty much guess what my mind went straight to, especially that I've never done any rock climbing.

And so came the next thought:

I'm going to need proper shoes for this

And then the one after that:

I used to have proper shoes for this kind of activity

In fact, I used to be quite a camper / hiker / nature kind of guy back in the day when I was a boyscout, and that was about eight years ago. Funny thing is, I've been awful at keeping in touch with the people I used to share these sorts of activities with, and of all the people I usually hang around with, there hasn't been anyone to really compensate for what I lost when stopped being a boyscout. I didn't give it much of an effort myself either, I must admit, and it's only about eight years later, when thinking of trying out rock climbing, that I remembered a long forgotten part of myself, a part that meant a lot to me... or at least a previous version of me.

So here's to all those moments, may they never be forgotten, and help us reunite with the things in life we held dear, the things that somehow got lost between the office, the classes, and all the redundant drinking.

Cheers !

Nice choice of subject, indeed when we get really busy with studying & work we ignore lots of things we used to like & do! Hope everyone will be able to reconnect with his inner side again!!
