Eileen Khatchadourian live at Melkonian Theater

For a concert featuring armenian songs, and knowing that I don't speak a single...

For a concert featuring armenian songs (I suppose most of which are folk songs remade into a psychedelic rock ambiance), and knowing that I don't speak a single word of armenian, except perhaps 'yegour', this was jaw-droppingly Amazing.

I didn't know much about the artist, but taking into account she is accompanied by what used to be the instrumental body of the Lebanese band Blend (Miran Gurunian, Mazen Siblini, Haitham Shalhoub and Jad Aouad), I had an early hint as to what kind of experience I was walking into.
For Rock music lovers, all the elements were there: Punchy guitar riffs and lines, incredible drum/bass/guitar synch, energetic stage presence (although it was a seated concert), a very tasteful drum solo by Jad Aouad, weird loops and strange guitar effects by Miran Gurunian... I could go on ...

Moral of the story: This brilliant artist has an album out called "midan", and yes, all the songs are in Armenian, but that will in no way affect your appreciation of the music.
Don't believe me ? listen for yourself

... and when you're done: Buy the album. That's my personal recommendation.

PS: I apologize for not capturing Haitham or Mazen in any pictures, but this was a seated concert, and from the open angle I had (the one between two long-haired heads), this is all I could get without having a part of the audience in the picture.

Totally agree with Fadi. I had absolutely no idea what Miss Khatchadourian was saying, but the music was simply amazing. to be honest, I didn't know what to expect when i first sat down, and i hadn't listened to Blend before, but i have to say that this was far better than I thought it would be. I did notice, however, that the sound could have used some more refining from a technical point of you, even with the obviously limited budget for the concert. There were some instances where the music almost completely eclipsed the singer's voice, and as far as i could tell, through no fault of her own. Other than that, it was nice to finally see an event in Lebanon that exceeded my expectations... It's been a while.

oups, sorry about the mistake (i meant "point of view", of course).
Also, in case it wasn't clear in my comment, I absolutely loved Miss Khatchadourian's voice.
